Yamaha Motor Company, Japan (YMC), one of the World’s foremost two-wheeler giants, made its foray into India in 1985. Subsequently, YMC entered into a 50:50 joint-venture with the Escorts Group in 1996. In August 2001, Yamaha acquired its remaining stake with Yamaha India becoming a 100% subsidiary of YMC. In 2008, Mitsui & Co., Ltd. entered into an agreement with YMC to become a joint-investor in the motorcycle manufacturing company, India Yamaha Motor Private Limited (IYM).
Yamaha India operates two state-of-the-art manufacturing units at Surajpur in Uttar Pradesh and Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu, producing motorcycles and scooters for both domestic and export markets. Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, India is also the location for YMRI, the Yamaha Motor Research & Development India Pvt. Ltd., a 100% subsidiary of YMC, the only 5th R&D Centre across the world, manifesting Yamaha’s focus & commitment to the Region and its customers, including Nepal. Yamaha India itself is highly customer-driven and has over 2,200 pan-India Customer Touchpoints, including over 500 dealers.

Morang Auto Works (MAW)
MAW, the abbreviation of Morang Auto Works, in Nepal, was founded by its founding Chairman Late Mr. P.R. Agarwal with setting up of an Engineering workshop in Biratnagar.
MAW Group ventured into agencies of reputed automobile and ancillary brands like Goodyear Tyres, Mico Bosch, Mahale, Goetze, Talbros Gaskets etc. It took over the dealership of Ford Tractors in 1972 and sold 164 Tractors in the 1st year of operation. MAW took the Dealership of Escorts/Rajdoot Motorcycles which later on has transformed into Yamaha in 1975AD.
MAW started its Engineering division in 1998 with products like Greaves Genset, Ingersoll-Rand Compressors, Mettler Tolledo Weigh Solutions and ECEL material handling products.

Vishnu Kumar Agarwal, MD

Born on the 25th of September 1971 at Biratnagar, Nepal; Vishnu Kumar Agarwal is a visionary and a born leader who is open to ideas and is result-oriented. He has been the driving force behind the stellar rise of MAW group in Nepal. Mr. Agarwal fully transformed MAW in from 1 venture to a total of 17 ventures to this date and still growing. He is driven by the stands by the MAW Group core values with ‘people’ at the centre of it all. Yamaha Nepal/MAW-Yamaha too, under his leadership and guidance, has been able to transform and position itself as the most trusted and most loved brand for the discerning customers of Motorcycles & Scooters in Nepal.
